When I took this job, I was skeptical. Honesty, when Dave
offered the job, I really did not want to take it. I said I would think about
it. Who has not heard stories about the Used Car Industry, Used Car
Dealerships, and Used Car Sales People? But, I needed a job so I reluctantly
said ok. The first few days were like the start to any new job. Trying to
remember everyone’s name, learning something new; needless-to-say it was nerve
racking.
I started on a Thursday, a week after I said I would. (That
is an entirely different story) I was not the least bit excited to have to work
every other Saturday. I worked Thursday and Friday that week. Called Dave that
Friday evening and told him I wasn’t able to work Saturday. He was none too
happy with me over that one, as he should be. By this point, I still wasn’t
convinced I would even keep the job. But, I came back on Monday. Little did I
know these people were about to change my opinion on the Used Car Business and
quite honestly, my outlook on life.
Let’s start with Dave. The first time I heard him turn
someone down I was completely shocked. A lady came in, her car was needing a
lot of work and she felt it was best to just purchase a new one. Dave looked at
her finances and took everything into consideration. He said he would not set
her up for failure, he would not sell her something she could not afford. AND
HE DIDN’T! Instead, he helped her with finding the shop that has the same
convictions. Later, a gentleman came in wanting to trade his vehicle in for
something new. After Dave evaluated the vehicle he told the man he would have
better chances selling it himself. Dave went on to say he could only offer him
x amount of dollars and that the gentleman could make a lot more selling it
online. You have got to be kidding me…Who is this guy? I started feeling a
little better about this job. Still not 100% convinced though.
Next was Holly. I had heard the other employees tell the
customers…if something happens and you can’t make your payment, call us, tell
us what is going on, let us try and help. I thought YEAH RIGHT, with
unattainable stipulations. I was wrong. I have heard Holly say time and time again,
we want to see you succeed, let me see what we can do to help. And then she
did.
To my surprise EVERYONE was this way. These people really do
care and they will not set you up for failure. They, We, want you to succeed.
When you succeed, so do we. Lloyd has
really set the bar high. This Used Car Lot really does strive to make a positive
impact on people’s lives. It has mine. Now, I can’t imagine working anywhere
else.
